Located within city limits, PDX is easy to get to by private car. However, as with any major air facility, traffic and parking may be an issue, especially during rush hour. During major holidays, you may not be able to find a parking spot despite hours of diligent searching. If you're downtown, the quickest and cheapest way to get to and from the airport is through the Red Line of Max Light Rail. You can easily roll your luggage on board and trains run from around 4:45 AM to 11:50 PM from the airport. Small change is recommended because the ticket machines return change in coin.
Taxis are also available, with trips taking about half an hour. At the airport, you'll find them in the lower center section of the airport terminal, right outside baggage claim.
Tri-Met bus #87 stops at Airport Way and 181st street but only runs on the weekdays.
